ZAMBIA
Zambia is a land of vast wilderness, powerful rivers, and untouched landscapes, offering an authentic African safari experience far from the crowds. From thundering waterfalls and winding river systems to remote floodplains and rich national parks, it is a destination defined by raw beauty, space, and a deep sense of wilderness. Travellers come here for both adventure and tranquillity, where nature still feels truly wild.
A must see is the Victoria Falls, known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya — “The Smoke That Thunders.” The Zambezi River crashes over a basalt cliff in a dramatic curtain of water, sending mist high into the sky and creating rainbows that stretch across the gorge. Helicopter flights, sunset cruises, and cliffside walks offer unforgettable perspectives of one of the world’s great natural wonders.
In the South, South Luangwa National Park is one of Africa’s premier safari destinations, famous for pioneering walking safaris. Guided on foot through the bush, travellers track elephant, lion, leopard, and hippo in a landscape that feels intimate and untamed. Further west, Lower Zambezi National Park unfolds along the riverbanks, where canoeing, boating safaris, and game drives reveal elephants crossing channels, pods of hippo, and rich birdlife set against the dramatic escarpment backdrop.
To the centre of the country lies Kafue National Park, one of Africa’s largest yet least crowded parks. Its diverse ecosystems range from open plains to wetlands and woodland, offering a true sense of solitude and discovery. In contrast, the vast waters of Lake Kariba create a different rhythm entirely — houseboats, fishing, and sunset cruises define life on this immense man-made lake, where wildlife gathers along the shoreline.
In the remote west, Liuwa Plain National Park is a seasonal wilderness of sweeping grasslands and dramatic skies, known for its wildebeest migration and incredible isolation. Meanwhile, Kasanka National Park is famous for its annual bat migration — one of the largest mammal migrations on Earth — when millions of fruit bats fill the night sky in a breathtaking natural spectacle.
